1. Wedding Ring
2. This ring is an artifact which symbolizes the marriage between my dad and mom. Dad had used this ring to propose to her and was used for their marriage afterwards as well. My mom keeps it for her daily use as an accessory and keeps it on her most of the days.
3. This ring was there at the time when the both of them were getting married in 1996, therefore it is a primary source.
4. The beauty/significance of this artifact is its physical appearance and that it brings back the good memories that they have been through in the past together. It would supposedly reunite them back when they are going through troubles at times, knowing that they had sworn an oath to love and respect each other for the rest of their life.
5. Receiving this ring had meant so much to my mother at the time. On the moment Dad had gave her the ring, she began thinking about the future life that they would have to go through together as husband and wife. This meant that would have to trust this man and support him in any ways possible even if they go through troubles at time. For both of them, the wedding is a memory that they could never be forgotten. It was their once in a lifetime moment which changed everything of them. However, if it weren't for their marriage, my brother, sister, and I wouldn't be existing in this place.
1. Family Registration Certificate <--(only the inside of the red box)
2. This document is something that is worth much more a single paper. It is an official document which states that my parents are married and that they are husband and wife. Without this document, they would have no proof that they are married couples.
3. This is a primary source because their was recorded at the time on this document and it was authorized by the law that they are accepted couples.
4. This document is significant to the event, because it shows the people that they have all the rights to be together due to this document. The wedding and this document are two different things. Wedding is somewhat like a celebration for the document that is made. People have fun in the wedding and get serious when signing the contract for the document. Thanks to this document, my parents had me and my siblings and had all the rights to do so.
5. As much as they were nervous about the wedding, they were even more nervous about signing the document. This would mean that they are officially going to be husband and wife for the rest of their life. There would be no stepping back after signing the contract and would have to start a new life by themselves. This feeling that they had when stepping into the room to fill in all the contract, it was exceptional.
1. Interview
2. My mom’s close friend kindly volunteered to have a interview of what it was like in my parent’s wedding and her basic background information related to one of my parent.
3. This source type is a secondary source, because my mom’s friend was just explaining what had happened during the wedding.
4. The significance to this source is that I found out that something memorable to someone can be also memorable to another. Definitely, the wedding was unforgettable to both of my parents, yet it was also unforgettable to my mom’s friend as well. Even though it was over 16 years ago, she still knew what had happened and its surroundings as well. It may not have been as significant to her as it was to both of my parents, however it is nice to know that their wedding was a part of her memory.
5. My mom’s friend thought the wedding was very sweet and was envious. The bridesmaid and my father were very good looking together side by side and the wedding went perfectly as it should have been. She stated that there were lots of guests in the wedding and it was very crowded. By her descriptions, I can guess that my parents held a huge wedding so that others can join and officially celebrate their relationship.
